Imprinted Concrete Driveways - Our Process

The length of time taken to finish each and every driveway thoroughly depends on the size, shape, and what the customer requires. Nevertheless, we always complete the jobs we are asked to do in a very simple and similar process.

To begin with we dig out over 8" of ground until we reach a solid sound base.

Then at least 4" of top quality hardcore is laid and compacted, before any drainage, manholes and edgings are set in place.

A thin layer of polythene is then laid over the hardcore before the concrete is poured.

The concrete is then levelled and tamped by several tools in order to prepare it correctly.

The base colour is then applied and worked into the surface of the concrete.

Antique release agent is then applied before the imprinting process begins.

After the concrete has had time to dry it is washed off with a high pressure hose then acid washed to remove any excess release agent.

Following this crack control joints are cut into the concrete to minimise any possibility of crack occurring on the surface.

Then finally once the area in completely dry, an acrylic sealer is applied to protect the surface from staining. It also enhances the colour thus giving your driveway a modern, clean and professional appearance.
